WIFT SATX

Chartered in November 2023 as a nonprofit domestic corporation, Women in Film & Television San Antonio is the preeminent Media & Entertainment industry association for women in San Antonio, Bexar County, the Hill Country, the Coastal Bend, and South Texas. WIFT SATX is an official chapter of WIFTI (the global organization of 12K+ members), and we support and energize women by illuminating their achievements via platforms, opportunities, and programming locally and globally. WIFT SATX provides access to a supportive community of peers within the membership and partners. Proudly, Women in Film & Television San Antonio advocates for equality in the Media & Entertainment industry and supports women in every stage of their careers.

WHO WE ARE

Women in Film & Television San Antonio is the leading non-profit membership organization chartered in 2023 for people working in the media and entertainment industry in San Antonio, the Hill Country, the Coastal Bend, and South Texas including advocates of the organization.

We are proudly associated with Women in Film & Television International “WIFTI” that is a global network of more than 12,000 members and 50 partners & chapters located on six continents that for more than 50 years has been dedicated to advancing professional development and achievement for women working in all areas of film, video, and other screen-based media.

We are currently accepting members in WIFTI SATX who comprise a broad range of professions spanning the entire Media & Entertainment industry. From producers and directors to accountants and lawyers, above the line and below, in front of the camera or behind it, WIFT SATX is dedicated to helping women reach their highest level of achievement in television, film, and other moving-image media.

 

WHAT WE ARE BUILDING

Women in Film & Television San Antonio’s Board of Directors focused on growing the organization’s memberships beginning in December 2023. Applications for additional Board seats; committees including The Celestial Awards; programming series; and further developing partnerships and supporters regionally is the focus for Q1 2024.

The WIFT SATX mission and programming is dedicated to promoting equity for women in the Media & Entertainment industry, and we also offer memberships for all people who want to advocate, align with, and support our organization.  College students from across the state, individuals with an interest in learning about the industry, partner organizations, and our corporate members comprise our membership and team. It is our mission to build community across the industry while collaborating with other WIFTI chapters and partners and organizations in the region we serve.

LIVIA TREVIÑO

Livia Treviño is an actress who hails from Texas, hoofed her way through New York, and now hams it up in Los Angeles! She is known for her work in TV, Film and Theatre, most notably as Mrs. Timmer (Grace’s surly neighbor) in WILL & GRACE (the reboot). She has appeared in such TV shows as NOT DEAD YET, THIS IS US, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM and many others. 

She has numerous theatre credits and critics have praised her “wit and energy” as Mrs. Fezziwig in A CHRISTMAS CAROL at South Coast Repertory, her “zesty portrayal” as the nurse in ROMEO AND JULIET at The Odyssey Theatre, and her “top notch” performance as prison guard Shawna DuChamps in the West Coast premiere of COYOTE ON A FENCE, for which she received an Ovation Award Nomination for best actress in a lead role.

ELIZABETH FAUERSO

Elizabeth Fauerso has spent the last twenty years deeply engaged in the practice of making places that matter. Through her work as a management consultant in Latin America and Europe, her multiple leadership roles in Strategic Planning with some of the world’s most significant brands such as Levi’s and Robert Mondavi she sharpened her practice of drawing insight from investigation and creative collaboration.

Most recently in her leadership role at the Historic Pearl Brewery and Potluck Hospitality she was a primary member of the team that transformed a defunct brewery into a world-class neighborhood. In October 2023 she launched EBF Development and Design Studio to expand her practice beyond Pearl and San Antonio in her commitment to creating dynamic brands and places.

NICOLE GREENBERG

Nicole Greenberg is a script supervisor for television and feature films. Her most recent project was the short film, People Walk Dogs Late at Night in the Suburbs (SAG-AFTRA).

Greenberg was recruited by HBO Comic Relief after graduating from University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in international business and marketing. Greenberg served as director for Time Warner’s New Line Cinema and was later brought to Twentieth Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising as a member of their national promotions team.

Greenberg married and relocated to San Antonio with her husband Mark, launching their blockbuster museum exhibition company, Evergreen Exhibitions. In response to opportunities coupled with her desire to be an advocate for causes, Nicole founded Greenberg Consulting. Highlights include creation of a national cookbook tour for Katie & Leann Chin’s My Country My Kitchen companion PBS show; appointment to the Mayor’s Commission on the Status of Women as District 1 commissioner and later elected vice chair. Nicole also chaired several San Antonio International Women’s Day events. Nicole was a member of Leadership San Antonio class of 35 and board member of SA Public Library Foundation. Greenberg served as marketing chief and later, editor of San Antonio Woman and 78209 Magazine.

Traci Lewand’s career in producing live entertainment and events includes her passion for serving her community. Lewand joined the San Antonio Zoo as the Senior Vice President of Operations in February 2024. In her prior role at Hemisfair, she was the event director coordinating some of our community’s biggest cultural festivals and free community programming during the major growth and expansion of the nonprofit.

Additionally, she is the founder of ChangingSA, a community awareness initiative about the need for and lack of universal changing stations out in community. Through this initiative universal changing stations have been installed at Legoland Discovery Center, The San Antonio Zoo, Six Flags Fiesta Texas, Hemisfair and various Santikos movie theatres to name a few. The initiative falls under the non-profit umbrella of disABILITYsa. Most recently a 100k grant from Impact SA made possible for a mobile changing unit (MCU) one of the nation’s first and the first in the state of TX to be produced and deployed in Jan ’23 at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo. The MCU allows for people of all abilities to enjoy events such as community festivals. The MCU is complete with a universal changing station, shower wand, wheelchair accessible sink/ toilet, is climate controlled and has a recharging station. The connection between events and the MCU is personal as Traci’s youngest son requires the use of a universal changing station in order to be out community.

ASHLEY LANDERS

Fluent in Spanish, Ashley started her career in San Antonio at the nation’s largest US Hispanic Ad Agency, where she led campaigns on global packaged goods brands for Nestle and General Mills. While part of a global network out of Paris, France, she managed multi-agency teams from one of the original “mad men” agencies in Lower Manhattan.

Under Ashley’s leadership as CEO and part owner, Texas Creative has seen tremendous growth, offering a full spectrum of services including branding, digital marketing, advertising campaigns and software development.
Over the course of her career, she has overseen hundreds of video production shoots across the US and Latin America in English and Spanish, negotiated celebrity endorsements and managed product integrations in film and television.

Ashley is a champion for climate and health equity. She is Secretary of the Board of Directors for Methodist Healthcare Ministries (MHM), a billion dollar organization that serves 74 counties throughout Texas. MHM is half owner of the Methodist Healthcare System – the largest healthcare system in South Texas.

ROSE REYES

Prior to joining Giant Noise, Rose Reyes’s expertise has spanned 25 years in media, music, cultural arts, marketing, tourism, events production, and nonprofit management.

Her experience includes seven years as the director of music marketing for the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, where she directed the programs of the Austin Music and Film Office, working with film and music journalists worldwide, and promoting Austin as the Live Music Capital of the World. For 12 years, she served as assistant director and producer at the Folk Master series, working with artists statewide presenting and promoting traditional arts.

In 2017, she received the Hall of Fame “Margaret Moser” award at the Austin Chronicle’s Austin Music Awards and founder of Women in Music Professional Society. Education and Expertise: Asia holds a Master’s Degree in Nonprofit Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre, a combination that reflects her commitment to marrying the arts with effective organizational leadership. Career Highlights: Magik Children’s Theatre: Asia rebranded the theatre, acquired the Shakespeare Festival, and spearheaded the development of the Shakespeare Speaks Educational Program. Classic Theatre of San Antonio, Executive Director: As the Co-Founder, Asia developed the brand, website, collateral material, price structure, bylaws, educational program, SOPs, budget, fundraising strategy, and marketing strategy, establishing Classic Theatre as a cultural cornerstone in the community. The Public Theatre (Playhouse SA), CEO: Asia’s transformative leadership rebranded the organization, restructured the org chart, increased donor giving by 50%, doubled the operational budget in three years, eliminated a $500,000 debt, and significantly expanded educational program participation and cultural impact. SA300, COO: As the COO, Asia played a key role in developing commemoration week, engaging with commissions, city hall, city council, and the Mayor, while also implementing a successful fundraising strategy. MARTHA MARTINEZ-FLORES

Martha is a Chicago-born / Mexico-bred Creative Director who calls San Antonio home. She has over 25 years of experience developing strategic creative work for a variety of clients. She worked at 3 leading San Antonio Hispanic ad agencies overseeing TV, Radio, Digital and Print campaigns.

Martha launched MM Creative in 2011 to provide cultural creative consulting services to a portfolio of clients that impact the community. Her clients have included SAY Sí, United Way, Feeding America, The Doseum, Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas, The San Antonio Museum of Art, the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department and the Department of Arts and Culture, Target, Texas A&M San Antonio, UTSA, USA Yoga Federation, H-E-B, Spurs Give, Pearl, YWCA and many others.

Martha is committed to always working on creative ideas that will empower and improve her community. Her work has garnered her local, regional, and national recognition. In 2020, Martha created the SA IS AMOR movement. Her visual love letter to San Antonio in the form of a limited-edition screenprint and “Amor” merchandise continues to raise funds for local nonprofit organizations. TRISH Deberry

Trish — aka Captain Marvel — believes that superheroes come in all shapes and sizes. With her wicked smart intellect and passion for making a difference, there is no doubt that Trish is built for speed and performance to find solutions to problems most find too vexing to conquer. In fact, a Lambhorgini has nothing on this force of nature.

A native San Antonian with a degree from Trinity University, Trish DeBerry has a deep and abiding love for the Alamo City. She has led successful initiatives for 25 years that have literally changed the face of the community.

Though Trish doesn’t have the ability to see the future like Captain Marvel, she is what some call a visionary tackling civic issues like how SA approaches economic development and the future of downtown.

Before DeBerry became President/CEO of Centro San Antonio, she founded two full-service marketing and communications firms that she led for 20 years — both of which were headquartered in downtown. An entrepreneur and strategist at heart, Trish is uniquely qualified to provide the overarching big picture under which all other tactics must flow.

When DeBerry isn’t blazing trails all over town, she is homing her superpowers of strength and agility on a bike at a spin studio — on pace for a remarkable 1,200 rides. Storytelling with intent and purpose is the thread that runs through Mary Ullmann Japhet’s career. The owner and founder of Japhet Media, Mary provides public and media relations, media training and video production services for companies, non-profit organizations, and individual leaders. 

Mary spent 18 years as the Senior Vice President, Communications & Community Engagement for San Antonio Sports, the local sports commission, telling the stories of premier sporting events like NCAA Final Fours and life-changing youth sports programs and helping the organization generate more than $1 billion in economic impact. She is a former television news reporter, anchor, and producer, having worked in San Antonio at KENS 5 and Los Angeles for news and entertainment programs. A native of New Mexico and a long-time resident of San Antonio, Eileen Kret is an executive producer, strategist, and marketing executive whose career has spanned the creative, business, and technology sides of the media and entertainment industry.

She is the principal of Innov8 Management Group and a sampling of projects include the feature films The Answer to My Prayer (2024) starring Luis Fonsi, Selena (1997) starring Jennifer Lopez; media broadcast series “San Antonio Profiles” (2023-2024); live San Antonio events including Diwali, Fiesta, Fiesta de los Reyes, and many more.

Eileen Kret is a well-known producer in the music industry including producing live shows and promotional media tours featuring top tier domestic and international artists for Anheuser-Busch Entertainment (Sea World of Texas). She is a Mayor of San Antonio appointed Arts Commissioner.

A native San Antonian who lived and worked in NYC and LA for 25+ years, Ceslie Armstrong is the founding Chair and President of the Board of Directors of  Women in Film & Television San Antonio chartered in 2023. She is the CEO of CESLIE Studios (founded 2003) and Executive Producer of NYTEX Productions. She is an award-winning media and entertainment executive; writer, director, multimedia publisher, art curator, and advisor to major organizations who engage her for her expertise in media and entertainment; and, business models focused on tentpole entertainment brands.

She has been featured talent and host on thousands of hours of live and recorded broadcast TV & radio including Good Morning America, CBS Morning Show, The View, and many more. She has held senior editorial positions and featured in major national women’s magazines including Marie Clair, Cosmopolitan, InStyle, Mode, Glamour and many more. Armstrong has packaged and produced premium original IP and programming for major networks, and studios including NBCUniversal, CBS, CNN, FOX, MTV, Sinclair, Hearst, Apple, HULU, IMG (New York Fashion Week) and many more. She is the publisher for the state of Texas for Global Village Publishing’s INNOVATE series of luxury coffee-table books. A pioneer in early internet-based streaming, Armstrong produces and packages content across all digital platforms.

She has produced Grammy award-nominated and winning artists; interviewed world leaders, top celebrities, and influential icons globally. With more than eight years in the corporate world crafting a variety of internal and external campaigns, Alyse has addressed organizational, marketing, and educational initiatives.

This diverse background led Alyse to open up her own creative firm. Working with nonprofit organizations, local businesses, and marketing firms, Alyse is utilizing her graphic design and video production skills to address clients pain points through visual design.

Alyse is a proud graduate of The Texas A&M University and is a Texas native, originally from Houston, but lucky enough to call San Antonio home since 2020.

Cristiana has helped uplift first-generation college students during her time in the Palo Alto College Marketing department. She now serves as the Multi-Media Specialist for the San Antonio Area Foundation, combining her passions for being creative and helping others.

Vanessa Rae Lerma is a Director/Producer from San Antonio, Texas. She is the Co-Owner of Screenville Films, established in 2015, where she works alongside her husband.

Her artistic journey began in the theater, where she dedicated over 13 years as an educator and director, and gradually transitioned into the vibrant hustle and bustle of the film industry during that time. With a strong foundation in producing and directing plays and musicals, she brought her expertise to the world of cinema through Screenville Films, which she co-founded in 2015. Her extensive experience in theater, spanning from San Antonio to New York City, provides her with a unique perspective and skill set in storytelling and production.

Her work with Screenville encompasses a diverse range of projects, spanning from producing commercials , documentaries, corporate videos, engaging branded content, and has worked on various television shows and a feature film.

Some of her most recent and notable recognition includes a Silver Telly Award for her outstanding work as Co-Creator and Director of the web series “Most Likely To” in 2023. She also earned the title of Best Series Director at the 2023 Austin Revolution Film Festival for the same project. She was honored to be a recipient for Excellence in Directing a Drama at the 2022 Alamo Theatre Arts Council Awards for The Mesquite Tree by David Davila, produced by Theatro Audaz.

I am a trained theater arts professional with 10+ years of teaching experience, performing in over 100 different stage productions throughout my lifetime. I am a Southern California native, attending Chapman University’s College of Performing Arts for a BFA in Theatre Performance. I have served as a resident actor and non-profit arts educator for various theater companies over the past twelve years including The Magik Theatre, The Classic Theatre of San Antonio, and The Public Theatre of San Antonio. I am certified in the Wolf Trap arts-integration teaching method and a former Wolf Trap Teaching Artist.

I own and operate Yippee Coyote! Theater for Play, a pop-up theater program for kids founded in 2023. We introduce children to new ways of self-expression, instilling a sense of confidence and encouraging ideas through hands-on performance-based learning.
